This knife has two edges. Your examples make it clear some are reported that shouldn't be. But, isn't it likely people are dying who aren't being categorized? There are always errors in reporting — Pima County acknowledged today that its numbers don't match the state's because private testing of the virus brings about inconsistent numbers. They now will go with the state numbers so as to diminish confusion.

As someone who had a majority elderly internal medicine practice, and filled out numerous death certificates, this is a reality.

The rules state that there needs to be a confirmed cause of death to be validly counted.

We have lived here 22 years and GVR has always been contentious. I recall that in 2000 a group hung the then director, Jeff Ziegler, in effigy.

I think the election of Don Weaver as the new president of the GVR board bodes well. He has vast community volunteer experience and has worked as a mediator. I am hopeful the new board can work well together.
